Find the coaching to meet your needs

FAQs

  • If you feel uncertain about making big decisions, or are wary of where they might lead, if you feel you aren’t reaching your potential, coaching is definitely for you.  Coaching supports you to be the best that you can be.  Taking time in a coaching space can be invaluable to work through key questions, thoughts, and feelings.

  • Coaching is carried out online or face-to-face (whichever is your preference).  Usually you will contact me to arrange a convenient time and date.

The content of the session is dependent on your requirements, situation, and preferences.

Coaching holds space for you to talk through what’s going on for you right then.  I will be there to guide you and challenge you (a bit!) as you go on a journey of self-discovery and explore your inner beliefs, needs and feeling.  I make use of high impact coaching tools to help you.

You will come up with your own steps and actions to help you move forwards.

Please call me if you would like to know more. So much of coaching is about the fit between you and me. I’d love to talk to you to see if we can work together.

  • We agree on a time-frame for coaching, usually meeting once a fortnight for about six weeks. Each session will last between 30 and 60 minutes. In these sessions you will decide on a focus and allow me to partner with you to work towards achieving your goal. I will manage the timing of the session and ensure you gain full value from it.

Whilst a one-off coaching session can have great impact, generally speaking a block of six sessions will ensure that you can make lasting changes to make a really difference. However, you can decide what’s right for you. I certainly don’t make you come to coaching sessions for an indefinite period. Often the ending becomes apparent to us both, as you feel you put things in place to sustain you in the life you want to lead.

  • I have a holistic approach to coaching drawing on my experience in education, recruitment, photography and business. I make use of coaching models and tools and draw from varied approaches. I throw in creative ideas if they are right for you.

I use evidence-based coaching approaches, so that there is science and research behind my coaching.  Change is driven by you coming with an open mindset, motivation, and drive to embed behaviour change.  I will support you to make new connections in your brain to help you try something different to facilitate change.

  • An openness to moving forwards to find the life you want!  To be ready for coaching, you need to admit that you are stuck on something, want to make changes, and be willing to spend the time necessary to create strategies to move forwards.

It’s also helpful to bring a particular goal or aspiration to the session.  Spending time thinking about this in advance means you get the most from the session.  You may want to bring a pen and paper so that you can make brief notes.

  • The coaching session is completely confidential.  I comply with the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics which requires me to share only safeguarding concerns, intent to cause harm to yourself or others, or criminal acts.

  • Being given space to articulate your thoughts and feelings and work through your own solution is a powerful experience which can lead to lasting change. The process stimulates the creative brain and helps you articulate attainable goals informed by what drives and motivates you.

  • Coaching is not about being directed or given suggestions and advice.  Although I may use elements of my experience or knowledge to help accelerate your progress, I will encourage you to find your own answers and make your own decisions, since these lead to greater self-motivation, focus and clarity.

If it becomes apparent that coaching is not the correct support mechanism for you, I will direct you to find a suitable solution to support you.  This could be counselling, mentoring, or specific careers advice.

Coaching sits alongside other supportive roles but is different to counselling or mentoring.  Counselling helps explore the causes of issues you might experience, sometimes looking to the past to help that process.  Mentoring offers a more directive approach with guidance and advice given, often to someone less experienced in the field.

Coaching partners with you to focus on long-term development to help you improve your performance, explore your potential and to progress in what life stage you are at.  It encourages you to adapt your ways of thinking, feeling and behaving as you explore your strengths, values and mindset, and discover how you can become more confident, resourceful and self-aware.  It offers a supportive space as you find your own solutions.

  • Please get in touch with me to work out we can work together to help pupils and staff.  I offer a 20 minute discovery call to enable you to work out if you would like to work with me and a 30 minute free taster coaching session if you still feel unsure.  Please do get in touch with me.

"Helen put me at my ease right from the start. She gave me time to talk and I felt really listened to. She then helped me work out an action plan, which has made all the difference."
